We Voted YES! ULP Strike Authorization Overwhelmingly Passes!

GROCERY WORKERS AT RALPHS, VONS, ALBERTSONS, AND PAVILIONS ARE READY TO STRIKE IF NEEDED

We have spoken loud and clear.

These past two weeks, nearly 45,000 grocery workers across Southern California came together and overwhelmingly voted YES to authorize an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) Strike against Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions for breaking the law by surveilling, interrogating, threatening, and retaliating against union members.

This vote is a powerful message to Kroger and Albertsons: We are fed up with their union-busting tactics and unlawful behavior that disrespects workers, silences our voices, and stalls progress at the bargaining table. 

BARGAINING UPDATE

For months, we’ve pushed for real solutions to short staffing, unsafe conditions, and unfair wages, and while we had some good discussions on staffing in this session, we still don’t have satisfactory results from Kroger and Albertsons. They moved another measly quarter on wages at the 11th hour today, but we’re still very far apart on what we need to support our families and other issues important to us like clerk’s helpers working in a higher classification and increased premiums for department heads. 

We only have three more bargaining dates scheduled for June 25-27, where we are demanding that the companies stop breaking the law, and negotiate a contract that respects workers and invests in safe, fully staffed stores. We are fed up with being overworked, disrespected, and undervalued while corporate CEOs rake in millions.

TRABAJADORES DE SUPERMERCADOS EN RALPHS, VONS, ALBERTSONS Y PAVILIONS ESTAMOS LISTOS PARA LA HUELGA SI ES NECESARIO

Hemos hablado fuerte y claro.

Estas últimas dos semanas, cerca de 45,000 trabajadores de supermercados en el sur de California se unieron y votaron SÍ por una contundente mayoría para autorizar una huelga por Prácticas Laborales Injustas (ULP) contra Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons y Pavilions por infringir la ley al vigilar, interrogar, amenazar y tomar represalias contra miembros de la unión.

Este voto es un mensaje contundente para Kroger y Albertsons: Estamos hartos de sus tácticas antisindicales y su comportamiento ilegal que falta al respeto a los trabajadores, que busca callar nuestras voces y obstaculiza el avance en la mesa de negociaciones. 

ACTUALIZACIÓN DE LA NEGOCIACIÓN

Durante meses, hemos presionado para obtener soluciones reales a la escasez de personal, condiciones inseguras y salarios injustos. Si bien tuvimos algunas buenas conversaciones sobre los niveles de personal en esta sesión, aún no hemos obtenido resultados satisfactorios por parte de Kroger y Albertsons. 

Ellos pusieron otra triste cora en los sueldos a última hora hoy, pero aún seguimos muy separados en lo que nosotros necesitamos para sostener a nuestras familias y otros temas importantes para nosotros como el que los ayudantes de empleados trabajen en clasificaciones más altas y aumento de pagos premiums para los jefes de departamento.

Solo tenemos tres fechas de negociación más programadas del 25 al 27 de junio, en las que exigimos que las empresas dejen de romper la ley y negocien un contrato que respete a los trabajadores e invierta en tiendas seguras y con personal completo.
